West Vigo Lady Vikes Varsity lost the lead late in a 7-6 defeat to Edgewood on Thursday. The game was tied at six with Edgewood batting in the top of the seventh when Trinity Robertson singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

Despite the loss, West Vigo Lady Vikes Varsity did collect 12 hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Edgewood had 12 hits on the way to victory.

In the second inning, Edgewood got their offense started when Taylor Minnick singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

After Edgewood scored one run in the top of the fifth, West Vigo Lady Vikes Varsity answered with one of their own. Edgewood scored when Taylor Thomas singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run. West Vigo Lady Vikes Varsity then answered when Hannah Lewis’s sac fly scored one run for West Vigo Lady Vikes Varsity.

West Vigo Lady Vikes Varsity notched four runs in the third inning. Alex Barnaby and Kenzie Rice all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Kaity Burkhart got the start for Edgewood. She allowed 11 hits and six runs over four and a third innings, striking out one.

Emma Stevens led things off on the rubber for West Vigo Lady Vikes Varsity. She allowed 12 hits and seven runs over seven innings, striking out two.

West Vigo Lady Vikes Varsity tallied 12 hits on the day. Rice, Maddie Daley, and Lyric Krause all managed multiple hits for West Vigo Lady Vikes Varsity. Rice went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead West Vigo Lady Vikes Varsity in hits.

Edgewood totaled 12 hits. Loren Carter, Thomas, Minnick, and Robertson each racked up multiple hits for Edgewood.
