Mr. Chuck Cardinal is a 1967 graduate of West Vigo High School. During his high school career, he lettered in baseball all four years, basketball three years, and cross country two years. Chuck led his team in scoring his junior and senior years, and was the second in the country in scoring his senior year. Chuck was also the basketball MVP his junior and senior years, and his proudest moment was when West Vigo beat Wiley during his senior year. Chuck’s athletic talents were demonstrated at a young age; he was nominated during his freshman year as a “Future United States Olympic Team member,” and was listed in the Future United States Olympic Candidates 1964 edition. Chuck’s talents extended beyond athletics, as he was a four-year member of the letterman club and played drums in the band during his freshman year. After high school, Chuck attended ISU for one year, before joining the Navy.
1969 was a significant year for Chuck. In 1969, he began working at Pfizers and, after thirty-five years, retired from there in October 2004. He also married Karen Anderson in 1969, and went on to have two children, Mike Cardinal and Lisa Cardinal Lang, and their grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Braiden, and Kylie Cardinal. Chuck enjoys golfing and watching his grandkids play sports during his retirement years.
