Mrs. Bridget (Miller) Short attended West Vigo from 1988-1992, where she received 16 varsity letters: four in basketball, softball, track, and volleyball respectively. She was a state finalist in the shot-put, holds the record for most points and rebounds in a single basketball game and career, scored over 1,000 points in her basketball career, was a member of the Semi-State Volleyball Team, earned the most varsity letters in Vigo County, and received the McMillan Award for Most Outstanding Female Athlete in Vigo County.
After high school, she attended Olney Central College on a basketball scholarship. After Olney, she earned 2 degrees at Indiana State University including a Master’s in Elementary Education. She coached volleyball for four years and basketball for two years at West Vigo Middle School. She has been married to her husband for fifteen years, Trent Short, who is also a graduate from West Vigo High School. They have two boys: Dakota, a freshman at West Vigo High and Devon a 7th grader at West Vigo Middle. They currently live in West Terre Haute, and she is an 8th grade English teacher at West Vigo Middle School.
Bridget has many fond memories from her athletic career. “My fondest memory of high school athletics would have to be winning the Regional Championship in volleyball and the good times that my volleyball team shared with our wonderful coach, Faith Hatcher.”
