Mr. Robert Wooley was born November 4th, 1955, to Robert and Wilma Jo Simpson Wooley. Bob grew up in West Terre Haute with his four brothers: James Simpson, Ron Simpson, Wesley Woolley, and Greg Woolley; and four sisters: the late Wanda Fox, JoAnn Switzer, Maggie Braden, and Debbie Williams. Bob married Cheri Woolley, and they have three children: Chambra, Cogan and Cody.
Bob was active at an early age playing youth football, basketball and little league baseball. In 1970, he began his high school career in sports. He was a four year varsity starter in baseball, and a three year varsity starter in football and basketball, earning ten varsity letters. The highlight of his abilities was at quarterback leading West Vigo’s 1971-72 football team to a 9-1 season. During Bob’s senior year, he was voted Most Valuable Player in football and basketball and was co-MVP for Vigo County in football.
After high school, Bob attended Danville Junior College where he also played basketball and baseball. He led the Jaguars in hitting and homeruns his second year. Since then Bob has been active playing in intramural sports leagues such as softball and basketball around the Wabash Valley.
In 1978 Bob started his career with United Parcel Service. Bob retired from UPS in 2008 with thirty years of service at the age of 53. He was a thirty-year member of the Teamsters Local 710 out of Chicago. In 2007, he was introduced into the National UPS circle of Honor, for twenty-five years of safe driving without an accident.
